Please reach us at eclipsedogtraining.info@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
There's no quick and easy answer to this question. Dog behaviour is a result of a lot of factors, many of which are direclty related to the humans in their life. Dog training is often a lifelong journey if you want a well-mannered best friend who you can take everywhere for their entire life. That's why our initial consultation is 2 hrs long - there's a lot for me to assess and communicate to both you and your dog.
As a full-time dog trainer who works with all ages and breeds of dogs, I understand what’s needed for you to build a healthy relationship with your dog. Having a keen awareness of signs of future problematic behaviour allows me to give you the best advice for your unique puppy and lifestyle, based on my experiences with hundreds of dogs and their owners. Puppy preschool can be a wonderful learning opportunity, but when managed inappropriately, it can teach your puppy poor behaviours. What a puppy experiences in their first 16 weeks of life stays with them forever, so I encourage puppy owners to make choices that ensure those experiences are healthy ones.
Additionally, my puppy preschool classes are held in a private venue. This minimises distractions and disturbances. It's a great learning environment, especially for shy puppies who sometimes need a bit of space and less stimulation to learn.
Most likely yes. A few hours of class time can only scratch the surface of the learning a dog and owner need to help dogs fit into our modern lifestyles. Additionally, as puppies mature, new challenges arise as they start testing boundaries and expressing their genetic tendencies more fully. We have a special package of private lessons for puppies who have graduated from our puppy preschool!
Rather than adhering to a limiting ideology, I prefer to look at the dog and human in front of me and assess what they want and need as unique individuals. My training philosophy and details about me can be found here: About Us.
It's important that we treat our dogs with kindness and respect with their best interests in mind, while also acknowledging our own skills and limitations. This sometimes means a bit of stress will be faced by both the human and the dog on their journey to a better life together.
My training approach uses a lot of structured play and obedience. It's based on the Training Without Conflict system, which I've learnt in person in the US from 2x World Champion dog trainer Ivan Balabanov. I aim to make training as fun as possible for everyone! Rules and boundaries are important as well.
Labels and ideologies are being used to divide and weaken the dog training community. I'd prefer we focus on this: We all want what's best for dogs and there are many ways to achieve that goal!
